Indications

  • Relief of pain associated with colic in adult horses and yearlings.

  • Alleviation of moderate to severe musculoskeletal pain and surgical pain in horses.

Contraindications

  • Do not use in horses with known hypersensitivity to butorphanol tartrate.

  • Do not use in horses with severe hepatic or renal disease.

Precautions

  • Rapid IV administration may cause transient ataxia, head nodding, or restlessness.

  • Do not use in horses intended for human food.

  • Use with caution in horses with cardiac arrhythmias or severe respiratory disease.

Side Effects

  • Mild sedation, transient ataxia, muscle twitching, decreased gastrointestinal motility, and mild respiratory depression.
