Guinea pig inoculation

Treatment

Penicillin 10000 IU/kg intramuscular twice daily for 4 to 5 days

Streptomycin 4 to 5 grams intramuscular twice daily

Oxytetracycline high dose

Anthrax antiserum intravenous administration

Prevention & Control

Burn or deeply bury carcasses with quicklime

Farm quarantine

Isolation of exposed animals

Disinfection using lysol formalin sodium hydroxide or peracetic acid

Tick and biting fly control

Vaccination using Sterne avirulent spore vaccine
