Zeniquin (marbofloxacin) is a potent synthetic broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone bactericidal antimicrobial for oral administration in dogs and cats. Indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections of the skin and soft tissue, urinary tract infections, and bacterial feline skin infections associated with susceptible organisms.

Indications

  • Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections (wounds, abscesses, cellulitis) in dogs and cats caused by susceptible bacteria.

  • Treatment of urinary tract infections (cystitis) in dogs caused by susceptible strains of E. coli and Proteus mirabilis.

Contraindications

  • Do not use in immature, growing dogs (less than 12-18 months) due to potential cartilage erosion in weight-bearing joints.

  • Do not exceed recommended dose in cats due to risk of fluoroquinolone-induced retinopathy.

Precautions

  • Use with caution in animals with known Central Nervous System (CNS) disorders or epilepsy.

  • Ensure adequate hydration during treatment.

Side Effects

  • Mild gastrointestinal upset (decreased appetite, vomiting, soft stools); rare neurotoxicity or lethargy.
