Indications

  • Prevention and treatment of acute vomiting in dogs and cats.

  • Prevention of vomiting associated with pre-anesthetic use of emetogenic medications (such as morphine or hydromorphone) in dogs.

Contraindications

  • Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to maropitant.

  • Do not use in puppies under 8 weeks of age or kittens under 16 weeks of age.

Precautions

  • Use with caution in animals with suspected or known gastrointestinal foreign body or obstruction.

  • Use with caution in patients with hepatic dysfunction, as maropitant is primarily metabolized by the liver.

  • Safety has not been evaluated in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs or cats.

Side Effects

  • Pain or stinging sensation at the subcutaneous injection site.

  • Lethargy, anorexia, diarrhea, or ataxia in rare cases.
