Indications

  • For estrus synchronization in beef cattle and lactating dairy cows.

  • For unobserved (silent) estrus in lactating dairy cows with a mature corpus luteum.

  • Treatment of pyometra (chronic endometritis) in cattle.

  • For abortion in feedlot and non-lactating beef and dairy cattle during the first 100 days of gestation.

  • For use in combination with Factrel (gonadorelin) for fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI).

Contraindications

  • Do not use in pregnant cattle unless abortion or parturition induction is specifically desired.

  • Do not administer to animals suffering from acute vascular or respiratory disease.

  • Do not administer intravenously.

Precautions

  • Women of childbearing age and persons with asthma or bronchial disease must exercise extreme caution; prostaglandin F2 alpha is readily absorbed through human skin and causes bronchospasm or abortion.

  • Wash accidental spillage off human skin immediately with soap and water.

  • Ensure cows are cycling and have a functional corpus luteum for response.

Side Effects

  • Transient localized sweating, mild salivation, restlessness, or transient slight rise in body temperature.
