Convenia (cefovecin sodium) is an extended-spectrum injectable cephalosporin antibiotic that provides up to 14 days of bactericidal antimicrobial therapy against common canine and feline bacterial skin infections, wounds, and abscesses following a single subcutaneous injection.

Treatment of secondary superficial pyoderma, abscesses, and infected wounds in dogs caused by susceptible strains of Staphylococcus pseudintermedius and Streptococcus canis.
Treatment of skin infections (wounds and abscesses) in cats caused by susceptible strains of Pasteurella multocida.
Do not use in dogs or cats with known hypersensitivity or history of allergic reactions to cephalosporins, penicillins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics.
Do not use in animals with severe renal impairment.
Prescribing information must be reviewed prior to use; safety has not been evaluated in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs or cats.
Use with caution in animals with impaired renal function; antimicrobial-induced alterations in intestinal flora may occur.
Keep out of reach of children. Individuals with known hypersensitivity to penicillins or cephalosporins should avoid skin contact.
Mild gastrointestinal signs including vomiting, diarrhea, and decreased appetite/anorexia.
Lethargy, transient pain or localized swelling at the injection site.
