Dosages

Dog

  • 5.5 to 11 mg/kg (2.5 to 5.0 mg/lb) body weight orally every 12 hours for soft tissue and dental infections; 11 mg/kg every 12 hours for osteomyelitis (Oral capsule) — Administer for 7 to 28 consecutive days; continue for at least 48 hours after signs resolve

Cat

  • 11 to 22 mg/kg (5.0 to 10.0 mg/lb) body weight orally every 24 hours (Oral capsule) — Administer for 7 to 14 days
Withdrawal Periods —
Indications
  • Treatment of periodontal infections and dental disease in dogs caused by susceptible anaerobes.
  • Treatment of osteomyelitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus in dogs.
  • Treatment of wounds, abscesses, and pyoderma in dogs and cats caused by susceptible Gram-positive and anaerobic pathogens.
Contraindications
  • Do not use in animals known to be hypersensitive to clindamycin or lincomycin.
  • Not for use in rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, or horses.
Precautions
  • Use with caution in animals with severe renal or hepatic disease.
Side Effects
  • Vomiting, loose stools, or transient anorexia.
