Dosages

Dog

  • 0.055 mg butorphanol base per kg (0.025 mg/lb) body weight orally twice daily (every 12 hours) (Oral tablet) — Continue treatment as needed for up to 14 consecutive days

Indications
  • Relief of chronic non-productive cough associated with tracheobronchitis, tracheitis, and bronchitis in dogs.
Contraindications
  • Do not use in dogs with a history of liver disease or preexisting respiratory depression.
  • Do not use for the treatment of productive cough, as suppression of the cough reflex can cause mucus accumulation.
Precautions
  • Use with caution in animals being treated with other central nervous system depressants.
Side Effects
  • Mild sedation, transient ataxia, anorexia, or slight constipation.
